I was watching Night of the Hunter the other night, and realized your driving sequence reminds me of some of the scenes where Mitchum is driving around.
And that dude at the checkout counter is poor old Birdie drunkenly peering into the mirky depths of Jack Benny's stomach and seeing a dead woman's grave.
That's great, really nice rhythm to it and lovely simple (but not SIMPLISTIC!) drawings. But I'm not 100% sure who Jack Benny is--a comedian or something?--he's not that popular over here in the U.K...

ReplyDeleteI guess if I followed that comparison, the sandwich is the woman that Mitchum drowned in the lake. Which makes your comic even more sinister.
